Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat - Fes

Desert tour from Casablanca to Marrakech via the imperial city of Fez and Merzouga Sahara desert will commence by visiting Rabat. Sightseeing in this capital city includes the old Medina, the Kasbah of the Oudayas and its ramparts (dating from the 10th century), it was restored in the 18th century using funds from an English pirate known as Ahmed el Insili. The Hassan Tower he minaret of an incomplete mosque in Rabat then heading to Chellah which the Phoenicians were the first to settle on this sloping site above the Bou Regreg river, and the Romans took control in about 40 CE, and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V. Drive to Meknes and see the old ramparts, the Moulay Ismail royal stables, Bab el Mansour and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum before we continue our journey to Fez for the first overnight.

Day 2: Guided Day Trip In Fes

You will meet a local guide in the riad and start to explore the oldest of Morocco‘s imperial cities. Fes is an important religious, intellectual and cultural center. You will start with the royal palace with its ‘tightly closed doors, eggshell façade, and pine-green Saracen tiles then the Mellah (Jewish quarter), the bleu gate and after that, you will go to the Fes El Bali (the old medina). you will start with the Andlous Quarter to see the Andalous Mosque which was built in the 9-th century than the Kairouyiene Mosque which was built in 857. Afterward, you will go to the tanneries to see where leather-like jackets, bags are made also to see the process by which animal skins are rendered supple and rot-proof. after lunch, you will meet the driver somewhere outside the Medina to drive around the Medina for seeing the stunning panoramic views of the Medina from uphill. And after that drop off back to the riad.

Day 3: Fes - Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga

After breakfast, we leave Fes toward Merzouga Sahara desert by crossing the plains of Saiss towards the Cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains past Ifran and Azrou to Midelt, where you will stop for lunch. Carry on crossing Ziz River driving past thousands of sky-scraping palm trees and fortified Kasbahs to Erfoud, then to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi, where you will ride camels to witness the sunset over the dunes and overnight stay in the Sahara desert camp. Dinner will be a traditional tagine, soup, drink delicious mint tea, listen to drumming Berber music while watching stars and the rising moon in the breathtaking Sahara desert. Overnight at your Sahara desert camp.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges

Wake up early morning to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes, possibly the best moment of Merzouga desert, then you will ride your camel back to the hotel where you will have a shower and meet your guide.
The road trip will feature one beautiful scene after including the stunning oasis of Tinghir where you will be able to take a walk along Todgha river bank visiting Berber villages and learning about the lifestyle of the local inhabitants before you visit the magnificent Todgha Canyons and have lunch on the spot.
In the afternoon, drive along the Kasbah road to Dades Valley where you will have the opportunity to visit one of the fortified Kasbahs before you arrive at your hotel in Dades Gorges.

Day 5:Dades Gorges - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech

After breakfast, drive along the Valley of the Roses to Kalaa Mgouna where you will have the opportunity to visit one of the Rosewater cooperatives and learn how the locals prepare rose-scented perfumes based on distilled rose water.
We continue to Ouarzazate by Skoura oasis famous for its date palm trees, then to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou where you will have lunch before a visit of the Kasbah, a UNESCO world heritage site, that has been used as a set for various Hollywood movies, fashion and commercial shooting.
In the afternoon, we begin our road trip through the Atlas Mountains past Tizi Ntichka Pass passing by various Berber villages with houses built with stones and mud. You immediately notice that life here never changed centuries ago !! and most of the locals are shepherds. We arrive in Marrakech late afternoon.
